英語の数字の読み方完全ガイド｜億・小数・分数・日付・電話番号まで

「1,234,567 は英語で？」「2025/05/24 は？」「3.14 は？」── 英語の数字の読み方は、教科書で習った後も意外と迷うものです。ビジネスシーンの数字読み上げで詰まらないよう、整数・小数・分数・日付・電話番号などを体系的に整理します。
1. 整数の読み方（一の位〜億）
3 桁ずつ区切る
英語では 3 桁ごとにカンマで区切り、それぞれに名前があります。
- 1,000 = one thousand（千）
- 10,000 = ten thousand（万）
- 100,000 = one hundred thousand（十万）
- 1,000,000 = one million（百万）
- 10,000,000 = ten million（千万）
- 100,000,000 = one hundred million（億）
- 1,000,000,000 = one billion（十億）
- 1,000,000,000,000 = one trillion（一兆）
具体的な読み方の例
- 1,234 = one thousand two hundred (and) thirty-four
- 12,345 = twelve thousand, three hundred (and) forty-five
- 234,567 = two hundred (and) thirty-four thousand, five hundred (and) sixty-seven
- 1,234,567 = one million, two hundred (and) thirty-four thousand, five hundred (and) sixty-seven
注意点
- 万は英語にない単位。10,000 は「ten thousand」と読む
- 億も英語にない単位。100,000,000 は「one hundred million」と読む
- "and" は英国英語では入れる、米国英語では省略するのが標準
2. 小数・分数の読み方
小数（decimal）
小数点は "point"、その後は 数字を一桁ずつ読むのが基本です。
- 3.14 = three point one four
- 0.5 = zero point five / point five
- 1.25 = one point two five
- 3.14159 = three point one four one five nine
注意点
3.14 を "three point fourteen" とは読みません。「point + 一桁ずつ」が原則。
分数（fraction）
分子は「基数（one / two / three ...）」、分母は「序数（half / third / fourth ...）」を使います。
- 1/2 = one half / a half
- 1/3 = one third / a third
- 2/3 = two thirds（分子が 2 以上なら分母は複数形）
- 3/4 = three quarters / three fourths
- 5/8 = five eighths
- 1/100 = one hundredth
パーセント（percent）
- 25% = twenty-five percent
- 3.5% = three point five percent
- 0.5% = zero point five percent / half a percent
3. 日付の読み方
米国式 vs 英国式
米国と英国で順序が違うので注意。
- 米国式: 月 / 日 / 年（5/24/2026 = May twenty-fourth, twenty twenty-six）
- 英国式: 日 / 月 / 年（24/5/2026 = the twenty-fourth of May, twenty twenty-six）
日付の読み方の具体例
- May 1 = May first / the first of May
- May 2 = May second / the second of May
- May 3 = May third / the third of May
- May 4 = May fourth
- May 21 = May twenty-first
- May 24 = May twenty-fourth
日は序数（1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th ...）で読みます。書く時は数字でも、読む時は序数表現になります。
年の読み方
- 1999 = nineteen ninety-nine（2 桁 + 2 桁）
- 2000 = two thousand
- 2001 = two thousand (and) one
- 2026 = twenty twenty-six（カジュアル）/ two thousand twenty-six（フォーマル）
2000 年代に入ってからは "twenty twenty-six" が口語で一般的になりつつあります。
4. 電話番号・住所
電話番号
電話番号は 数字を 1 桁ずつ 読みます。同じ数字が続く時は "double" や "triple" を使うことも。
- 03-1234-5678 = zero three, one two three four, five six seven eight
- 090-1234-5678 = zero nine zero, one two three four, five six seven eight
- +81-3-1234-5678 = plus eight one, three, one two three four, five six seven eight
同じ数字の連続
- 0 を含む電話番号: 0 は "zero" または英国では "oh"
- 0033 = double oh, double three（英）/ zero zero three three（米）
- 111 = triple one / one one one
住所
- 1234 Main Street = twelve thirty-four Main Street（4 桁は 2 桁ずつ）
- 52 Park Avenue = fifty-two Park Avenue
- 10001（zip コード）= one zero zero zero one
5. 価格・通貨
米ドル・ポンドの読み方
- $5 = five dollars
- $5.50 = five dollars (and) fifty cents / five fifty
- $1,234.56 = one thousand two hundred thirty-four dollars (and) fifty-six cents
- £10 = ten pounds
- £10.50 = ten pounds (and) fifty pence / ten fifty
カジュアルな価格表現
- $5 = five bucks（カジュアル）
- $5.99 = five ninety-nine（小数点なし、一気に読む）
- $1,000 = one grand（口語）
消費税・チップ
- $5 plus tax（税別 $5）
- $5 including tax（税込み $5）
- 15% tip = fifteen percent tip
6. ビジネスで使う数字表現
大きな金額（K / M / B 表記）
ビジネスでは K（千）/ M（百万）/ B（十億） の略表記が頻出します。
- $50K = fifty thousand dollars / fifty K
- $1M = one million dollars / one M
- $1B = one billion dollars
- $1.5M = one point five million / one and a half million
増減の表現
- Revenue grew by 15%（売上は 15% 成長）
- Sales doubled（売上は 2 倍に）
- The price went up by 20%（価格は 20% 上昇）
- Numbers dropped by half（数字は半減）
近似・概数
- Approximately 1,000（およそ 1,000）
- Around 500（約 500）
- About 100 people（100 人くらい）

7. 時刻・期間
時刻の読み方
- 3:00 = three o'clock / three / three PM
- 3:15 = three fifteen / a quarter past three
- 3:30 = three thirty / half past three
- 3:45 = three forty-five / a quarter to four
- 12:00 PM = noon / midday / twelve PM
- 12:00 AM = midnight
期間の表現
- for 3 years（3 年間）
- over the past 6 months（過去 6 ヶ月で）
- in 5 minutes（5 分後に）
- by next Friday（次の金曜までに）
